Unplanned honeymoon in Toulouse, France

Salam

This is the continuation of yesterday's entry  Unplanned "honeymoon" in London. As I've mentioned before, I had to be in London and Toulouse for the purpose of academic visit to universities & institutions with another guy lecturer from my department. Thus, hubby was 'forced' to accompany me for the one week trip.

Toulouse lies on the south-western side of France, within the region known as the Midi-Pyrénées.

The regional capital and known for its large resident population of student and it is also known as "pink city" (La Ville Rose) because of the reflections from the small bricks made from local clay used in many of its older buildings. Their colour varies from red to dark pink, according to the metal content, and gives the city a rosy complexion all of its own, especially in gentle sunlight.

Toulouse and its region are home to many high-tech aeronautics and aerospace industries. Prestigious schools specializing in this sector are one of the attractive features of this major university cluster which also includes prestigious engineering schools and scientific institutes. More than 35,000 of the innercity's 400,000 citizens work in the civil aviation or space industries; Airbus / EADS is the largest employer in the region.

So here are some of the places that we've visited during the 3 days 2 nights stay in Toulouse :-

(1)  Toulouse-Matabiau
The main railway station, with regional and national services which is situated right in front of our hotel. We stayed at ibis style hotel which is just 15 minutes walking distance to the center of Toulouse i.e. Capitole.

(2) Canal du Midi
The Canal du Midi meaning canal of the two seas is a 241 km long canal in Southern France. The canal runs from the city of Toulouse down to the Étang de Thau near the Mediterranean.

(3) Capitole
The Capitole is the heart of the municipal administration of Toulouse. It houses the city hall, as well as the Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse opera company and a symphony orchestra. The Salle des Illustres contains 19th century works of art.

(4) Musée des Augustins
The Musée des Augustins de Toulouse is a fine arts museum in Toulouse, France which conserves a collection of sculpture and paintings from the Middle Ages to the early 20th century. The paintings are from throughout France, the sculptures representing Occitan culture of the region with a particularly rich assemblage of Romanesque sculpture. Tapi kitorang tak masuk pon, posing kat luar je eheh.

(5) Cathedrale St-Etienne
Cathédrale Saint-Étienne de Toulouse is a Roman Catholic cathedral, and a national monument of France, located in the city of Toulouse. Only hubby & my colleague enter the cathedral while I waited outside and thinking on whether I should buy myself a LV handbag as the boutique is located nearby to the cathedral. Last2 tak beli pun, sebab errr sebab tak dapat restu dari incik hubby ngeeee

+- in front of Cathédrale Saint-Étienne -+

+- senyum tak ikhlas sebab kepala duk terbayang2 henbeg LV kat butik depan mata -+

(6) Pont Neuf
The Pont Neuf, French for "New Bridge" is a 16th-century bridge in Toulouse. The bridge is not symmetrical; the longest arch is the third from the right-hand bank. It is 220m long, and has 7 arches.

Thankfully although it was in the Autumn season, the weather was not as cold as in London during the day. Dapatlah jalan2 tak payah pakai jaket tebal sangat.

+- dua orang ni siap pakai short sleeve t-shirt lagi -+

To me, there's not much to explore in Toulouse and it is not really a tourism city like London or Paris. Also, the souvenirs sold here is not as cheap as the one sold in London or Paris. But the view of the Canal du Midi is breathtaking thus Toulouse is a city suitable for those who wanted to enjoy the nature.

Pssstt : Johor tak cuti pun hari ni, eh tapi takpe sebab mulai 1 Januari 2014 hari bekerja ialah Isnin-Khamis yahooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Unplanned "honeymoon" in London

Salam

Kenapa unplanned? sebabnya I kena pergi sana atas urusan kerja dengan another guy lecturer from my department. Tapi macam tak berapa manis pulak nak pergi berdua sampai seminggu kat sana, so I paksa hubby ikut I pergi sana. So terpaksa lah hubby bayar tiket dia sendiri dan temankan I pergi academic visit to a few universities and institutions while we were there.

+- view from the airplane's window -+

Anak-anak pulak kitorang terpaksa hantar balik duk kampung dengan Tok Umi kat Pahang. Nasib baik masa tu adik hubby masih dalam pantang, so dia lah yang tolong susu kan SN Jr yang lansung tak nak minum botol sepanjang seminggu mommy kena outstation tu. Abg SN pulak enjoy his stay in kampung sebab ramai kawan (sepupu2 hubby yang kecik2) dan jugak banyak animals (rooster, duck, cow, goat, tortoise, eagle, porcupine..u named it..semua ada kat kampong hehe). Mommy yang poyo2 sedih teringat anak2, diorang enjoy je duk kampung...skype pon kejap je sebab nak cepat2 sambung main hohoho.

+- nampak tu abg SN siap pegang eagle -+

Anyway, moh kita sembang pasal jalan2 kat sana. Cerita ceriti pergi kerja tak payah kot mention kat sini, kita cerita tang jalan2 je la eh. So here are some of the places yang sempat kitorang singgah during the 3 days 2 nights stay in London :-

Bicester Village is an outlet shopping centre on the outskirts of Bicester, a town in Oxfordshire, England. A must visit place for Shopaholics. Masa I pergi tu sale banyak jugak although tak segila sales during Boxing Day but still worth it. Orang shopping kat dalam Clarks macam kan kat pasar malam je, main campak2 je kasut. Kat dalam Prada pon ramaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii nak mampus manusia, pilih2 beg macam bag tu harga sepuluh dua je padahal paling murah pon RM2K hoih.

+- paksa one passersby to take our pic LOL -+

Kitorang pergi hari Ahad sebab sampai kat UK Sabtu malam tu. Bicester is about 1 and 1/2 hour car ride from London, nasib baik ada kawan I ex-USM mate yang tengah buat PhD kat sana i.e. Bibi sudi bawak kitorang ke sana. Stay kat Bicester dari tengahari sampai ke malam, lepas tu balik London singgah makan sedap kat restoran Pakistan.

+- thanks Bibi, Faiz & Aisya Zara for the kind hospitality -+

Pusing2 London City petang Isnin 4th Nov lepas balik dari academic visit. We were able to visit few places only since it's getting dark early during the autumn season. Naik tube je pusing2 London city to visit some of the points of interest there.

+- bukti dah sampai London ialah red phone booth *walaupun kat Msia pun dah berlambak ada red photo booth ni* -+

+- London eye, ambik gambar kat bawah je -+

+- The EDF Energy London Eye is a major feature of London's skyline. It is the world's highest observation wheel, with 32 capsules, each weighing 10 tonnes, and holding up to 25 people. -+

+- Big Ben -+

+- Notting Hill Gate and Harrods -+

Then we opt for city cruise to the Tower of London and London Bridge is falling down..falling down. As we arrived there quite late so we weren't able to enter the Tower of London *nasib baik, I tak suka masuk tempat2 misteri & gelap cenggitu sebab nanti malam mesti teringat2 sampai mimpi ngeri*.

+- Tower of London, one of the world's most famous buildings. Famous for its 900-year history as a royal palace, prison and place of execution, arsenal, jewel house and zoo! -+

Yang paling best masa kat London ialah shopping di Primark. Baju budak2 ada yang harga 2£ (RM10) je so mommy dengan daddy borong baju budak berdua tu je la sebab asyik teringat kat diorang. We went to Primark at night sebab Primark kan tutup lambat, tu pon ramai lagi umat manusia kat dalam tu.

+- Primark closed at 11p.m, gigihlah mommy & daddy heret kaki nak shopping baju anak2 walaupun dah letih -+

+- balik hotel semula naik bas 2 tingkat ni, siap duk tingkat atas nak tengok pemandangan -+

(3) Arsenal Stadium (Emirates)
Since our flight to Toulouse is at 4pm on the 5th Nov, we decided to pay a visit at Arsenal Stadium. Yes, pay a visit la because you have to pay to enter the stadium for the tour inside hehe. I'm an MU fan but hubby is a big fan of Arsenal, maka ikutkan je lah niat hati dia tu. Plus, considering that hubby dah sudi temankan I datang kerja so I pun kena lah sudi temankan hubby pergi ke tempat yang dah lama dia impikan nak pergi ni.

+- eh tadi kata terpaksa temankan, why I punya pose lagi gedsss dari hubby eheh -+

+- ececece, bajet Arsene Wenger la tu -+

 +- no 9 -+

+- mak incik berangan RVP eh cop..RVP dah gi MU la..ekekeke -+

+- padang tengah di bersihkan, tu yang penuh kren kat belakang kitorang tu -+

+- press conference before match -+

For the 3 days 2 night stay in London, we stayed at the Royal Eagle Hotel nearby to the Paddington station. Tapi tak best sebab takde wifi free, kalau nak guna wifi kena bayar 10£ for 24 hours usage. Cuma yang bestnya sebab kat area depan hotel tu ada 2-3 kedai halal macam Halal Chinese Food dan Halal Kebab. Even kat convenient store pun ada jual halal sandwidch for breakfast, so bab makan memang tak lah masalah besar macam kat Jepun hehe.

+- tak terserempak pulak dengan Paddington Bear lalu lalang kat sini -+

Alhamdulillah, although we misses both SNs so much but we took it as an unplanned 'honeymoon' trip which is good to give both of us some time alone to be with each other without having to be worried about who's turn is it to wash the boys' poo hehehe.

+- S ♥ N -+

Psssttt : next entry sambung cerita jalan2 kat Tolouse, France pulak.
