Snow boarding on a sledge at Tenzan Ski Resort

 

Semalam cerita pasal jumping & running on the snow, hari ni nak cerita pulak pasal Snow boarding on a sledge. 

Snow sledges are a great way for SN and I to enjoy the slopes together this year. Me and my  little one have spent few hours of fun whizzing down the slopes.Last year we went to Kokonoe Ski Resort  for our first experience with sled. As for this year, we headed to Tenzan Ski Resort Saga on the Sunday afternoon for our sledding activity.

Tenzan Ski Resort is the only full-service ski resort available in Kyushu and is covered with artificial snow. The resort opens from the middle of November to the end of March. Ski runs are located at 700 to 900m high and 600 to 1,000 m long.  Entrance fee is 2000yen for adult and free for kids.

I went there pun atas pelawaan jiran yang baik hati yang sudi tumpangkan kami bertiga dalam kereta diorang sebab nya incik hubby tak izinkan I drive sendiri ke Tenzan ni. Thing is jalan nak ke Tenzan Ski Resort ni sangat2 berliku2 dan selekoh2 tajam sampai I mabuk dan pening. Nasib baik bila sampai je kat situ, terus hilang segala pening.

Sebelum start main, alas perut dengan jajan dulu to make sure budak2 tak meragam masa main nanti. Since there was light shower of snow on that day, the artificial snow is somehow covered with the real one. Tapi tak la tebal sangat, just nice untuk meluncur turun dengan sled; tak laju sangat dan senang nak control speed.

After some time, we become tired of climbing up the hill so we end up sitting on top of the hill so that the kids can enjoy other activities besides snow-sledding such as snowball fighting and making snowman. Macam biasa, SN ambik kesempatan ni untuk berguling2 atas salji dan mengorek2 salji bajet cencorot .

Lama jugak lah duduk bersila kat atas tu tunggu SN & Darwisy main salji before we decided it's time to go home. On the way turun, SN mengada2 nak baring atas sledge board tu, maka mommy turutkan je la peel dia.

I give four out of five stars to this ski resort as the facility offered is family friendly where they even provide a heated room to warm up after the cold session in the snow. Sempatlah kitorang solat zohor & asar dalam heated room tu had our lunch and went home after that.

Overall, I can say this place is suitable for beginners and amateurs to start learning how to snowboarding and skiing down the hill. As for me, I memang tak berani nak snowboarding or skiing, takut jatuh kang terus skit2 badan. Badan ni nak pakai lama, dah la laki jauh; karang kalau sakit.....diri sendiri jugak yang susah. Maka pendamkan sajalah hasrat hati nak try aktiviti extreme cenggitu.

Pssstt : alasan je tak nak sakit2 badan konon, padahal memang penakut ngeeeee.

Running and Jumping on the Snow

 

Its snowing quiet heavily last weekend in Fukuoka *which is kind of weird as we seldom have snow in mid-Feb* and I was thinking it's time for another playing in the snow session for my sister and my son. So here's what we were doing during the last Saturday --> Running & Jumping on the snow.

Snow start falling in the Saturday morning so we decided to went to Mitsuse Tunnel, Saga in the evening to play with the snow. I have to ask another Malaysian friend here to drive my car as hubby didn't allow me to drive on the hilly route if its snowing as the road becomes slippery during that time.

SN as usual enjoy his time out with the snow.  He made several attempt to make his own snowman, lying on the carpet of snow and scooping the snow with his hand.

But, to be honest SN is not the only one who enjoy his time out with the snow. Although I lost count on how many snow that I've experienced since these past 6 years, I still found the sight of snow as mesmerized as the first time I saw it 6 years ago in Munich.

My sister was lucky enough to play with the snow as well because it is quite unusual for Fukuoka to have snow in the middle of February. I guess due to the extreme weather this year, Fukuoka become colder than before thus explain why we have snow in Fukuoka during February.

It may look picturesque for us, but this deluge of snow is wreaking havoc in other part of Japan. The death toll from the blizzard this winter is now at least 82. Many of the casualties were crushed to death by snow falling on them from buildings, while some slipped from rooftops while trying to clear the snow. 

The severe weather has taken its toll on residents who say they are exhausted from clearing snow every day for at least month. Alhamdulillah that we dont encounter such problem here in Fukuoka'; it must've been hard for those who lives in the cold area of Japan such as Niigata and Hokkaido.

February Snow

   

Alhamdulillah, pagi ini bangun tidur disambut dengan pemandangan indah hamparan salji yang memutih di bumbung kat rumah jiran2 dan juga halaman kat bawah. Patutlah malam tadi sejuk betul, terpaksa on heater sepanjang malam *jenuh nak bayar bil letrik bulan ni aiyarkkk*.

Pelik juga sebab selalunya salji turun hjg bulan Dec dan bulan Jan je, alih2 tahun ni bulan Feb pun ada salji kat Fukuoka ni. Kira nya rezeki untuk Awin la, dapat gak posing sedas dua dengan salji. SN pun sibuk2 nak ikut mommy go to school hari ini sebab nak main salji. Last2 kena temankan SN & Cik Lin dia posing dulu dengan salji, baru mommy boleh gerak ke kampus hari ni.

Perjalanan ke kampus hari ni pulak makan masa 2jam, selalunya 1 jam je. Bad traffic congestion as expressway being closed due to snow & typhoon. Boleh tahan lenguh jugak la kaki tekan brake pedal tu. 

Alih2 masa tengah stuck dalam traffic jam tu, I nampak ada sorang mamat jepun tergelincir jatuh dari motosikal. Agaknya sebab jalanraya licin bila salji tu mencair. Poor guy, lepas tu I tengok dia tolak je motor tu .. dah tak berani agaknya nak naik.

Sampai kampus hari ni dekat2 pukul 11pg dah, hari ini dalam sejarah lah bagi I datang lambat. Tengok2 lab pun kosong lagi, mesti budak2 lab yang lain tengah syok tidur melayan kehangatan duvet. Sambil2 tunggu diorang datang lab, sempatlah I update blog barang seketul dua ayat eheh.

Kalau ikut weather forecast, salji akan turun sampai ke petang ni je. Tenghari ni tengok2 mentari dah pun keluar memunculkan diri. Cair la balik salji2 tu nampak gayanya. Nasib baik Cik Lin & SN dah keluar pagi2 lagi untuk posing dengan salji, ada jugak lah kenangan untuk Cik Lin bawak balik ke Malaysia nanti ye dak? . Agaknya petang nanti salji sambung lagi lah turun selebat-lebatnya...burrrrrrrrrrrr sejuk oooii.

♪ ♫ ♪ Let it SNow..Let it SNow ♪ ♫ ♪

Even though I have been experiencing snow for these past 5 years already, I must admit that I am still feeling super excited everytime I see snow falling from the sky, and the feeling is still just like the same feeling with my first snow back in the year 2006 when I was in Munich, Germany.

You all can't blame me for that coz I've seen that native people living in the 4 season country with snow, are also reacting just as excited as I am when it comes to snow. My 1st snow experience with hubby end up causing both of us bedridden for 2 days due to fever and flu, as I've mentioned in the entry Demam salji @Demam cinta? (^-*)

=- I was 5 months pregnant at this time -=

Meanwhile, I've also shared about Nazhan's fist experience with snow last year in the entry 1st experience with snow for Baby SN-ow (^-*). It's kind of funny when I read the entry again, I wrote in the last part that how I can't wait to see Baby SN's walking on the snow..and hell yeah, this year he's walking and running and enjoying the snow as I presumed he would be.

At first, he was not showing any emotion when I show him the snow falls throughout the window panel from our bedroom. I stumbled upon selecting the perfect word to describe how nice snow is. I even Google-d info about snow to describe it to him.

I was blabbering about how snow was formed? --> "Snow forms when water vapor turns directly into ice without every passing through a liquid state. This happens as water condenses around an ice crystal". I even add up overjoy exclamation towards the end of the sentences by making joyful faces and flashed cheesy smiles to him and say "Isn't the snow looks LOVELY?".

Gosh, he doesn't even give a damn care about what am I talking and he just make a boring face to mommy. So, both hubby & I decided to give Nazhan a hands-on experience with the snow just so that he'll understand whatever the heck that mommy was over-excitedly saying about snow is all true.

Guess what?. Few minutes after we put him on the snow, he rocks his own world with the snow!. Nazhan is having so much fun with the snow as if the word COLD doesn't even have any particular meaning at all!. It's as if his whole body is practically covered with swan feathers inside out.

He's walking here and there on the snow.

Half of his leg was covered by the snow, but he stills find it amusing and continue walking on the snow.

He stumbled on his walk, and he exaggerated on his falls on the snow so that he can rolls his body on it.

He was running happily and expecting mommy to run along with him.

=- lari sana sini sambil sengih2 -=

He was grabbing the snow and looking at the snow as if it's the most delicious food on the earth.

=- cubaan untuk makan salji -=

He throw snowballs to mommy, even though none of it went close to mommy's body ngeeeee.

=- nak baling snowball kat mommy -=

He also made several attempts to crush the snowman into pieces hehe.

=- tengah geram nak penyek2 si snow man -=

He even lying on his back on the snow, as if the snow is the most comfortable mattress he ever slept on.

As I stood there watching Nazhan enjoying the snow, I can hear the song ♪ ♫ ♪ Let it SNow by Frank Sinatra ♪ ♫ ♪ keeps rhyming. It's kind of funny, but in a way I must say that this songs perfectly suits the situation and emotion that I was feeling at that time.

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

It doesn't show signs of stopping,
And I've bought some corn for popping,
The lights are turned way down low,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

Both hubby & I enjoyed the snow as much as Nazhan did. But, to be honest, its freeezing cold to stay for so long in an open area during the snowing moments thus we don't really want to spend so much time playing with the snow.

However, Nazhan was having a great time with the snow that it was really difficult for me to take him away from the snow. He totally ignores me when I called his name, and keep messing around with the snow as if mommy was not even standing in front of him. Check out the video below during the 1:36 mins.

The moment when I grabbed him and ushered him onto his car seats, he turns himself into a super rebellious little baby by making angry faces. Hahahaha, muncung je mulut tanda protes tak puas hati.

But I guess I have to do what it takes as our car is actually getting stuck in the snow. We only relies on the ECT Snow function, a built-in system for the car. We are not using the snow tire and we don't even have the snow chain. Thus, we got stuck in the snow as the snow turned into sleet. Sleet refers to a mixture of snow and rain, as well as raindrops that freeze on their way down.

Luckily, a guy that parked his car next to us has kindly help to push our car. At first, the car is not moving at all though the guy was pushing it will all his energy. Then, I suggested hubby to change to gear 2 instead of gear D, and after few more pushing attempts, we finally manage to move our car. Phew, what a great relieve..if not, we might have to spend 5000yen to hire a tow truck service.

Gosh, that was a pretty alarming experience for us. After that experience, we do take note that we cant park our car for a long time when it's snowing heavily to avoid those kind of incident to occurs again.

We also had a chance to play on a 'snow playground' on the way to Tosu Premium Outlet. Since we were a little bit early to arrive at the outlet malls, we have some spare time to play at the snow playground before channeling our outrageous energy to go shopping during that clearance sale on the 31st Dec 2010.

The snow in Fukuoka started to falls down on 26th Dec 2010, and occasionally appears for a day or two throughout this month. In fact, snow is expected to falls again this weekend i.e tomorrow and on Sunday... yeayyyy!. Luckily I don't have to attend any class this weekend, thus giving me another chance to let Nazhan have another fun session with the snow.
