iPhone Battle: Robert Nay (14 years old) vs Shafiq Nazhan ( 1 yr 7 months old)

Yesterday, I read a news about a genius boy aged 14 years old who designed iPhone App known as "Bubble Ball". Robert Nay *the boy's name* even have his own company i.e. Nay Games and right now he is working on a new game. Yup, u read it right, he's only 14 years old!. Hohoho, its totally unbelievable yet this news is so true, so you better believe it.

Check out the news about Robert Nay HERE and HERE.

You don't have to be angry to make a good iPhone game.

14-year old's Iphone App Beats Out Angry Birds

By Adrianne Jeffries - January 17, 2011 | 11:45 a.m

It took Robert Nay a month of coding at the public library to develop "Bubble Ball," a free, physics-based puzzle game that has been downloaded more than two million times in two weeks.

Mr. Nay is 14, in eighth grade and lives in Spanish Fork, Utah. Last week, Bubble Ball knocked the hugely-popular game Angry Birds out of the #1-most downloaded spot in the App Store's free category, making iPhone game developers of all ages feel bad about themselves.

"Some of my closest friends in the programming world started sending me e-mails [saying] 'I need to get off my ass,'" said Carlos Icaza, co-founder of Ansca Mobile, which makes the software development kit (SDK) that Nay used to build Bubble Ball.

But those other programmers had better hurry up, because Robert, who plans to pursue a career in computing, said he's already plotting his next move...

Aside from excelling at school, Robert plays the piano, mandolin and trumpet. But given the response to "Bubble Ball," he said he's going to be carving out more of his time to work on his next application.

The young Nay, who built his first website in third grade, has already released an Android version of the app. He's started calling his company Nay Games and is working on a new game. Hire him, Rovio, before he takes you and the Birds out.

Upon reading the news, I can't help myself from wondering and start to imagine Nazhan doing the same thing as what Robert Nay is doing. It might sound a little bit too ambitious, but hey there's nothing impossible to dream rite?.

My little baby started using iPhone when he was 16th months old. I 'm using my iPhone as a tool to teach him ABC, numbers and so. I've downloaded about 20 apps used for baby's education such as ABC Tracer, ABC Phonics, 123 Counting, ABC FREE, AniMatchKid, AnimalCard, SightWords, Colors Pad, Baby Flash Cards and many more.

=- Nazhan's using the iPhone at a Restaurant (while waiting for the food to arrive); to learn Alphabet, Numbers and Animals -=

I'd say iPhone has been my savior for the past few months to give me a helping hand to soothe Nazhan to go to sleep and also to calm him whenever he was being cranky and grumpy. The only thing that can make him stop crying and stop his tantrum is when I give him iPhone *as I've mentioned HERE and HERE*. He'll stop crying immediately, quickly grabbed the phone and started using it *like the phone belongs to him* huh.

=- look at his determined face when using the phone, as if mommy's phone belongs to him -=

As he enter his 18th months old of age, he mastered the trick to 'unlock' the touch pad. Gosh, both hubby & I awed in amazement when we first saw that moment. It's so cute to see his tiny fingers sliding on the touch pad to unlock the screen so that he can see the display mode.

The awestruck moment happened again on his 19th months old of age when he can already choose the same apps that he favor and totally ignores mommy's suggestion for him to learn his ABC with the phone. Cehh, I guess he doesn't want to be bother to learn ABC with the phone and obviously favor the DizzyBee games and Bird Crazy games.

=- he totally ignores mommy suggestion to learn ABC and keep playing his favorite game. Stopped for a while to pose and strike a 'peace' sign to the camera coz he thought mommy was taking his picture hahahaha
gatai LOL -=

Apparently, this hobby of playing with iPhone has affected the screen's condition of my phone. Not that the phone is destroyed or not working properly, but his fingerprints were all over the screen and it has made my phone look really buruk and kotor.

In a week or two, I'll substitute this iPhone 3Gs and getting myself the new iPhone 4. I'm not sure whether I'll let him play with my new iPhone 4 or not *henpon baru, mesti la sayang lagi kan*. I was thinking to get Nazhan a Nintendo or a PSP but hubby seems to be not likely in the act of approving the idea yet. After all, hubby will be the one who has to pay for the PSP if ever we decided to get it for Nazhan. Errrrmmmm, perhaps it could be the best idea for Nazhan's gift for his 2nd birthday which is coming in the next 4months ++ *kena start menabung duit syiling sekarang*.

He thinks that the console game would be too advanced for a 19th months old baby like Nazhan. As for me, after looking at Nazhan's awe-inspiring experience with iPhone; there shouldn't be any problem for Nazhan to mastered the consoles game as well.

What say you?. Should I get Nazhan a PSP to divert his obsession in my iPhone or should I just give him a computer so that he can start coding his own apps games just like Robert Nay?
sengihnampakgigi Ngeeeeee.
