Graduation ceremony in Japan

Salam u ollls,

Tora datang lagiii eh eh eh I muncul lagi...amboii rilek nampak kije sbg lecturer sampai boleh update blog regularly ehehhe. Takde makna rilek nye pon; tapi dah nama pun baru lapor diri, jadi belum dapat workload lagi. Infact bilik pun tak dapat lagi, menumpang kasih kat bilik incik hubby je minggu ni...jadi mari lah update blog dengan ceritera tertangguh sebelum2 ni.

Let's take a look at my graduation ceremony last week (26/03/2013). There were 2 sessions for the ceremony. The first session was held at Fukuoka Kokusai Center and the second session was held at the department in the university.

+- before the ceremony begin -+

The first session at Fukuoka Kokusai Center started at 12.10 p.m for the post-graduate student. Earlier, before that, a graduation ceremony for undergraduate student was held at that venue at 9.50 a.m. We arrived at the hall by 12 p.m. I was supposed to sit on the ground floor with other students, but it will be difficult for hubby to handle both SNs so I decided to sit in the family area too with them.

+- mak incik duduk kat seat family je, tak duduk kat seat student kat ground floor -+

The thing about the graduation ceremony in Japan is that it wasn't as 'grand' as the one that we have experienced in Malaysia *jubah pun tak ada weh, terpaksa mak incik import sendiri dari Malaysia ngeee*. The ceremony begins with a little speech by someone "important" (excuse me for that, I didn't know who was it as the ceremony was conducted solely in Japanese language).

+- MC -+

After that, 5 students who represent each faculty were given the scroll on the stage.......... And then, the ceremony finish!. That was it, only the representatives gets to go on the stage, as for other students...you'll get your certificate personally on the second session at your department.

+- 5 representatives from each faculties -+

Pretty much, the formal graduation ceremony took about 40 minutes only. Kalau kat Malaysia, separuh hari tunggu dalam dewan tu ye dak? ekekekek. Thankfully it took only 40 minutes as my husband and I were having some difficulties to handle both SNs. Abg SN wanted to run here and there on the stairs while SN Jr wanted to be fed and finally fell asleep half way through the ceremony ehehe.

+- Abg SN muka bengang baru lepas kena marah dengan mommy sebab main lari2 kat tangga, SN jr pulak bantai tidur berdengkur dengkur -+

We took the chance to snap a few photos outside of the hall before heading to Ito campus, Kyushu University for the 2nd session.

The 2nd session was held at the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering for me as I was under that department of study. For this session, PhD students were seated on the first line and then followed by the master students. I was seated at the 3rd row.

+- sebelah kanan tu professors in our department -+

Hubby had to handle both SNs on his own so that explained why there's no proper pic of me receiving the scroll. Luckily this session was also short and fast..it took about 15 minutes only...and then we're done!. Phew, I'm glad it's over as SN Jr started to cry already by the time the ceremony was over.

+- yours truly di kelilingi kumbang2 berkot hitam ngeee -+

+- gambar blur..tu pun hubby snap lepas dah dapat certificate. haiyohh, blur pun tetap nak tepek gak lah ahaha -+

There was a simple party after the session but I decided not to join the party as both SNs are getting bored with all the formalities of mommy's graduation ceremony.

+- sempat posing dengan SV je, lepas tu Abg SN sibuk2 nak pegang cert & scroll mommy -+

So we decided to have our own outdoor photography at the campus, but SN Jr had already fallen asleep.. thus explains what the stroller are doing in the pic below hahaha.

+- SN Jr tengah sedap mentidurkan diri dalam stroller, Abg SN pulak pose 'oppa gangnam style' -+

Abg SN was giving full cooperation for the photo shoot as he enjoys wearing the smart outfit that he addressed as 'baju oppa gangnam style' LOL. He even poses like Psy in those photos. Sigh, I wonder where he watches the oppa Gangnam style video as I never showed it to him. I guess when things become viral, it is hard for parents to control what their child was viewing these days with all the technology within the fingertips.

+- angin bertiup kencang masa ni, tapi sengih tetap sengih ngeee -+

+- last pose kat batu bersurat Kyushu University eheh -+

We called the day off with a simple celebration at Baskin Robbins AEON Gakkentoshi. No bouquet of flowers as a graduation present or any chocolates like the one that we'll receive in Malaysia *kononnya lagi banyak pegang bunga, lagi nampak macam ramai peminat..ececececeh*.

+- nyam nyam nyam...dapnyer dapnyer -+

+- kampaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii -+

I guess the best gift for this graduation is SN Jr. He was the best gift that I've received a few months before I finish my study. Despite all the hardships and days of living apart with him after he was born, I finally was able to receive my PhD certificate together with the greatest certificate as a mother of 2 sons *wink wink*.

Alhamdulillah..it's over :)

Alhamdulillah...Alhamdulillah.....Alhamdulillah, I've completed all the things that I was supposed to do in order for me to graduate in my PhD studies. All the computer work + simulations + paper submission + journal submission + thesis writings + power point presentations + closed defense + public defense has come to the end last Saturday (9th February 2013).

+- cam-whore to kill the butterfly in my stomach -+

+- bla bla bla...'goreng' sesedap rasa -+

 +- Q & A session -+

As for now, there's some administrative thingy to be done i.e thesis bindings, thesis hard cover printings and thesis submissions to the student office and then I will just have to wait for the graduation ceremony to get the official certificate which will be held on 26th March 2013.

Man, I couldn't believe that it's almost over. To be honest, throughout this 3 and 1/2 years of my PhD studies, I am thinking of QUITTING it!.

If you've been reading this blog for quite some time, you do know that our family's favorite activity is to go for sightseeing and traveling almost every weekend. So I couldn't really blamed some of you who might think that getting a PhD certificate is so damn easy that Yatie Chomeyl and her family have soooooo much time to enjoy themselves (refer Asyik jalan2 je, study ke makan angin?).

The truth is, I don't really like sharing my 'down' time in this blog. I used to share my melt down moments in these entry -> Bila rasaKU ini rasaMU, Tanda Kasih yang Chomeyl dari kalian, Permanent Finite head damage (T_T) and the next thing I know, the negative feelings become stronger depsite all the supports and nice words given by readers of this blog.

So, I decided to just share my sweet moment in this blog of mine and to keep the negative feelings all by myself.

Of course, it wasn't easy to keep all the negative feelings inside me on my own. So, sometimes it'll blow up and the next thing I know, I'll be crying non-stop and saying negative thing to hubby such as "I don't know what to do, I feel very stupid. I don't want to do this anymore!".

Only Allah know how many times have I uttered those sentences throughout this 3 and 1/2 years, thankfully we Muslims has Allah to help guide us in this difficult journey.

I'm so grateful to have Solah as my husband, I really do. As he has finished his PhD earlier (Tahniah Dr Solah), he totally understand my feelings and he is the one who keep pushing me errr...actually more to kicking my butt to make sure that I continue my study till the end.

+- hubby and I in front of Kyushu University (photo archive back in Sept 2011) -+

This also explains the lacks of updates and entry published in this blog for the past 6 months. I forced myself to really focus on finishing my works and at the same time trying hard to adapt between my role as a student, a wife and a mother of 2 boys...huhuhuhu.

+- 3 charming and handsome heroes in my life -+

I am lucky to have Prof Ohya and Prof Uchida as my supervisors as their expertise, understanding, and patience, added considerably to my graduate experience. They were very understanding whenever it comes to my family matter and for that I could not have imagined having a better supervisors and mentors for my PhD study.

+- my supervisors -+

I was also delighted to be given the chance to interact and mingle with the secretaries (Ono-san and Yoshii-san) in my laboratory; so I decided to give each of them a pair of 'baju kurung' as a farewell gift so that they'll always remember me and hopefully they'll wear it one day (of course during the summer season).

Also, not forgetting one of the technical staff (Dr Nagai) who speaks English fluently. These 3 people treat me as one of their friend and helping me to stay sane during the ‘crazy’ period of my study (i.e when it gets closer to paper/journal/thesis dateline).

+- my friends at the laboratory -+

Despite all the sleepless night, all the breakfast + lunch + dinner at the laboratory, all the straining eyes in front of the computer, all the departing moment with my family, all the long distance relationship with hubby and baby, all the tears + sweats + struggles that I have to face for the past 3 1/2 years, I could finally take a longgggggggggggggggggg deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep breath now as it's over. Dude, it really is over...finally it is over!.

Alhamdulillah..all praise due to Allah.

Now, could you please excuse me. I got some last minute shopping and packing to do. Hasta la vista peeps.

Psssssttt : It's 13th February 2013 today, which was supposed to be my late mom's 57th birthday. She's the one who really wanted to see me getting my PhD and she left before I could do so. Well at least I've fulfill my promise to her....Al-fatihah Ma...I miss you so much. ♥

This I promise you

As I'm in the final semester of my study, this past few months have been quite a hectic months for me. Nevertheless I've tried my best to juggle my time accordingly so that I'd still be fair to the responsibilities that I'm carrying as a student + a wife + a mom.

However,it is easier said than done. In this past few months and this coming few weeks, it has been and it's going to be the most critical time of my study where I has to complete journal submission, thesis writing, thesis submission, preparing for presentation in front of 3 panels, public presentation and yada yada yada.

I am a student from 9 a.m - 7 p.m; but once I reached home; I'll took away the 'student-cap' from my head and wears my 'wife-cap' and 'mommy-cap' from 7 p.m - 9 a.m. But for these past few weeks, there are times where I have to spend more time at the university which resulted to less time with my husband and son at nighttime.

As for last night, I arrived home around 11 p.m and it broke my heart when I saw my son has already fell asleep. I'm pretty sure he was waiting for mommy to come home, and in the end he become tired of waiting and fell asleep without mommy lying on his side. Sob sob sob.

+- this is me last night, driving home from univ at 10.30 p.m -+

I may sound ridiculously emotional but it kills me inside for not being able to put my son to bed as it is the time where he enjoy being hug by me; enjoy sleeping on my arm or sometimes under my armpit; reciting doa and few surahs together as well as 'fighting' over who gets to sleep next to daddy.

+- apparently, he get to sleep next to his daddy last night -+

What makes me more sad is that when he suddenly woke up while we just finish performing our Subuh prayer this morning, he opens his eyes and saw me lying next to him; his eyes beam with joys and he flashes sincere smile while saying "Daddy, mommy dah mari"--> his way of saying "daddy, mommy has come home!".

Dang! My heart shattered into million pieces upon listening to that; and then without I even noticed.....there's tears on my pillow. Looks like he was waiting all night for mommy  to come home. Then only hubby told me that SN was asking daddy when to fetch mommy at the train station for a couples of times last night. Syahdu lagi hati mommy bila mendengarnya uwaaaaaa.

After I'm saying sorry to him for couple of time.....SN quickly leave his bed, push away all the pillows around me; and put his head on my arm and ask me to hug him. While he was doing so, I promised myself that this 'coming home late at night' thingy won't be too long for him to experienced.

I promised myself to work harder and faster during the 9a.m - 7p.m time period and won't sacrifice the time period that I was supposed to spend with him. I promise u my son that all these will be over soon, it's just another few weeks to go and then this will all be over.

Yes, this I promise you!.

"I love you so much my son, in a way that I could never love another, not even my own life".

Pssssttt : klu bapak2 yg blk lewat dr univ/workplace, perasaan bersalah kat anak tak sama dengan apa yg mak2 rasa, kan kan kan? Eh ke sama jugak syahdunya? Eh ke mak buyong ni je yg over-emotional?

Rindu yang tak pernah padam

 http://www.murabbi.net/images/smiley/assalamualaikum.gif

Kejap sedih, kejap gembira..layankan je lah labu.

The Transit of Venus, 2012 June 6

http://www.murabbi.net/images/smiley/assalamualaikum.gif
Yesterday was perhaps one of the historical date in my life and maybe to some of you who have had the chance to view the transit of Venus across the Sun.  This phenomena takes place when the planet Venus passes directly between the Sun and Earth, becoming visible against (and hence obscuring a small portion of) the solar disk.

During a transit, Venus can be seen from Earth as a small black disk moving across the face of the Sun. The duration of such transits is usually measured in hours. While the diameter of Venus is more than 3 times that of the Moon, Venus appears smaller, and travels more slowly across the face of the Sun, because it is much farther away from Earth.

Transits of Venus are among the rarest of predictable astronomical phenomena. The latest  transit of Venus has occurred on 5 and 6 June 2012. After 2012, the next transits of Venus will be in December 2117 and December 2125.

So semalam I pergi tengok dengan my SV :Oh*ya Sensei dan secretary kat lab ni O*no-san. Bukan pergi jauh pun, dekat2 dengan lab wind tunnel kat ground floor lab I ni je. Ada technician kat lab yang setting the telescope by placing solar filter in front of it; then he project the image of the Sun onto a white paper.

+- technician tengah setting, sensei tengok je -+

+- technician tengah tunjuk lintasan Zuhrah -+
The Venus is visible during the transit as a small black dot on the Sun's disk. Venus will be only 3% of the diameter of the Sun, so very small. It will be an intensely black spot in contrast to the bright solar disk which will make it stand out.
+- nampak tak? kalau tak nampak pendek umur ihikhik -+

+- haaaa tu, black dot kat anak panah merah tu la. kualiti gambar biasa2 je sbb pakai kamera phone je...mak tak kuasa nak angkut si godang ke lab -+

For better picture, korang boleh tengok kat website [4], [5] dan [6]. Ini ada I cilok 2 keping yang paling menarik perhatian I. Enjoy the pics.
