Japan : 17 days after the disaster

More than 28,000 people have died or are missing following the earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan's northeast coast on March 11th.

The National Police Agency says that as of 6 PM on Monday, 10,901 people had been confirmed dead and 17,621 listed as missing. Police have identified 8,030 of the bodies.

The largest number of deaths : 6,627 peoples has been reported in Miyagi Prefecture, with 3,242 dead in Iwate and 974 in Fukushima.

Miyagi, Iwate and Fukushima are the prefectures hardest-hit by the quake and tsunami.
Miyagi Prefecture is sheltering the largest number, 83,537. Iwate Prefecture has 42,923 evacuees, followed by Fukushima Prefecture with 30,630 evacuees.

The number of confirmed deaths in Fukushima is low because search operations have been suspended in areas 20 kilometers from the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

The number of dead and missing is expected to rise sharply in some coastal areas devastated by the tsunami when local officials grasp the whole picture of the damage.

More than 190,000 people are still in shelters in the wake of the March 11th earthquake and tsunami that hit northeastern Japan. - Source: NHK news Monday, March 28, 2011 18:07 +0900 (JST)

Last Saturday 26th Mac 2011, FUKU(3)M - Fukuoka Muslim Melayu Malaysia had organized a special program in order to collect some donation money for the quakes victims. We also perform solat hajat and Yaseen recitation to ask Allah's help in protecting us from any harm and danger especially with the radiation issues still remain unsolved.

Alhamdulillah, FUKU(3)M have collected about 32 000 yen (~RM 1200) and donated it to Fukuoka Mosque's earthquake relieve campaign and some other amount of money has been donated through MSAJ. That donation also includes 8000 yen (~RM 295) from the money collected through Projek Amal On'na Noko for Japan.

The extent of the damage and loss to Japan, people’s homes, towns and lives is immeasurable. All lost in the span of less than an hour. The effort to rebuild the affected Japanese communities will take the effort of not just Japan but all of us in coordination. And it will take years to accomplish.

I would kindly request your support and donation into Projek Amal On'na Noko for Japan that Jiji & I has been working since last week.

Your RM10 might help to change someone's life. All those who have taken part in these effort will Insya Allah find a great reward from Allah in this world and in the hereafter, Insya Allah.

Pssssttt : the photos in the slideshows bring tears to my eyes.
